about the book

Mackenzie, a young free-spirited girl, sets out on an adventure to a special pirate gathering where she encounters unruly pirates set in their old pirate ways.

Through bravery and can-do-it-ness Mackenzie, as Black Mack the flip flop loving pirate, takes on a leadership role to teach the pirates that embracing differences and including others is the new code of pirate kindness.

In her colorfully creative debut Dana (Macc) Fikes spotlights the concepts of anti-bullying and diversity. She reimagines these tough topics in a simple way to motivate young readers to stand up for what they believe and build relationships to effect change in their communities and the world.

Read it twice, read it thrice and ask yourself what are the special treasures that make your heart sing?

It‘s a swashbuckling tale for readers of all ages and pirates too!
