Yoga Is for Everybody Including You: Make Your Practice Fit Your Lifestyle and Ability

Your yoga practice is just that… your practice. What’s important is what your yoga journey to Self encompasses. Three key aspects you want to include:

1.     It’s important to be consistent in your practice, try to do it at the same time each day.
2.     Learn proper alignment to keep yourself safe from injury- even if you are using YouTube.
3.     Indulge yourself on yoga’s history, if only briefly to gain knowledge on culture that made it.

Practice makes progress.

You owe it to yourself to include philosophy and physical aspects to guide you through the nuances of the mind-body-soul interconnection using the 5 pillars of Hatha Yoga:
Will, Concentration, Flexibility, Strength and Balance.
:
It’s important to maintain a healthy balance between your mind, body, and soul by nurturing your whole Self, including your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies. Here’s a trusted path for you to reconnect to your true being.

Yoga allow you to create your own bliss in the wonderment of your body through asana and meditation. Your body is a special place where consciousness exists. Breathe in the calm and focus both your mind and body. Let it flow so you can glow. Purify your nadis-energy channels in your body. Melt anxiousness, melt tension, melt fear, melt worries. Inhale confidence, radiate assuredness, radiate inner peace, power and clarity.
Your breath purifies your thoughts for right thinking, right ideas, and right decision making. Keep your attention free of judgement and expectation. Invoke your will and determination and bathe your body in unconditional love through Prana- life force energy. Prana- is all that matters – it connects you to the ecosystem of the Universe.

“Yoga is the subtle science of transforming yourself on all levels of life to bring yourself to a state which leaves you in absolute and perfect attunement with the rest of the Universe.” -Sadhguru

You have asked the question, “Is yoga for me?” Well, I am here to tell you yoga is for everybody. Your experience with yoga begins with you deciding to put your health and wellness at the forefront of your journey of happiness. Yoga for your physical, mental and spiritual wellness. Here is a list, albeit not a comprehensive of some of the benefits of yoga supported by science:

·       Strength
·       Flexibility
·       Improve Focus and Concentration
·       Mind-body Awareness
·       Stress Relief
·       Proper Breathing Techniques
·       Overall Health
·       Relieve Anxiety
·       Fights Depression
·       Improves Quality of Life
·       Better Quality of Sleep
·       Cultivates Kindness, Empathy and Compassion

It’s an incredible feeling to practice yoga and meditation for those wanting to destress, recalibrate their mental processes and to make it a major component of their own wellness ritual. Yoga is a lifestyle. Remember to be gentle with yourself. Practice makes progress not perfect.

“Yoga is not about perfection. It’s a science -it’s a system that you can access just how you are. “Anyone who practices a scientific technique for divine realization is a yogi.”
-Yogananda

People that want to practice and are afraid of the criticism they believe they may receive have said  to me that they are “not flexible enough” or “not thin enough” or “not brave enough” and my all-time favorite “not disciplined enough”. Listen, you are enough for yoga just the as you are. The 5000-year-old practice is not looking for acrobat with inhumanly bendy bodies it’s looking for those who want to find Self. That may or may not be you but the other aforementioned limitations are only excuses. The goal is to show up however you are and give it to the mat. Give the mat your uncertainty, nervousness, what-you-see-is-what-you-get ness! Show up for you and make it a priority to be consistent. The science behind the practice will squelch that “not enough” voice inside your head that continuously leads you down the dark rabbit hole. Yoga is your guide to the light. The light of your Inner Self. The understanding of the Self is the most important insight that any individual can have in life.

Many of my clients have shared with me how they wanted to add meditation and yoga to their daily lives but just didn’t know how to start.

If this is you, I have private sessions available via Zoom for those interested in the benefits of meditation and yoga for myriad reasons in a one-to-one setting.

Group sessions can be intimidating for newcomers to yoga and meditation, in a private session you can share your personal health history, set personal growth goals and ask questions that you may feel uncomfortable asking within a large group setting.

Your private session moves at a pace individualized to your level of comfort with modifications to meet you where you are in your journey.

“Through sustained focus and meditation on our patterns, habits, and conditioning, we gain knowledge and understanding of our past and how we can change the patterns that aren’t serving us to live more freely and fully.” ~Yoga Sutra III.18

I welcome you with loving-kindness.

Namaste,
