Your Perception of the Way Things Are Includes Many Facets of You

If you had a clearer understanding of perception you’d be clearer on your own behavior and the behavior of others that baffles you. Most everything we come to conclusions about or make decisions on are colored by our perception. Even before we taint it with ego- identification we use perception to “SEE” certain things although we are using all of our senses to become aware.
Sometimes the way things unfold makes us believe things that are completely IRRATIONAL, and from a flawed premise. Things you have long believed about yourself even and others can definitely be irrational and NOT VALID. It’s YOUR PERCEPTION of the reality.

What’s unfortunate about the illusion of perception is there is no belief beyond what we perceive. You can see a lot of thing you don’t want to SEE. For example, if you focus on problems you will SEE problems, by the same token if you focus on solutions to your problems you will SEE solutions to your problems.

If we are truly honest about how we handle situations involving people, family, friends, spouses, lovers all the like it’s influenced by the person perceiving, the object and the environment. Perception is important to understanding human behavior because everyone perceives the world and approaches life problems VERY differently.

Yet, errors in our perception due to ignored trauma, old habits, faulty thinking, paranoia, fear, past pain within relationships that are unresolved or self-sabotaging behaviors can distort how you select, organize, and interpret information to create a meaningful picture.
The decisions and actions that you are making may be because you “wanted” to but understand how errors in our interpretation lead us down dark, dysfunctional pathways creating discord in our lives and how we deal or not deal with situations and people.

Many times our mental state won’t even allow us to receive the sensory input (not prepared or ready leading to denial). When people react differently in a situation, part of their behavior can be explained by examining their perceptual process, and how their perceptions are leading to their responses.

We all believe we are the SMARTEST and perceive correctly but what we are actually doing is manipulating our brain to “see” what we want to see! Which is usually nowhere close to reality. Errors in our perception occur when we knowingly and unknowingly mistake a stimulus and perceive things WRONG!
You will know if you’re continuously making errors in your perception and then ACTING on it by the results you see in your life and interpersonal relationships. The goal is to know perceptions vary from person to person and are colored by the prejudices in the individual, time of perception, unfavorable background, lack of clarity of stimulus, confusion, conflict in mind and many other factors that are responsible for errors in perception.

We are not ALWAYS making clear decisions IN MEANINGFUL interactions so how can you be sure that you are giving people and situations the benefit of the doubt? BY UNDERSTANDING perception, or apprehending by means of the senses or the mind, can be a very powerful and influential aspect of our lives. EMOTIONS ARE FEEDBACK and are not reliable enough to guide us. Our old habits, unresolved issues, dysfunctional environments have you making false perceptions about very important aspects of your life.

Establish a new awareness and begin to check your beliefs. This is we become self-aware which allows you to see yourself objectively. If your internal standards and personal philosophy don’t align with your perception this is when changes have to be made to align your behavior to your Remembering some of our responses are based on an illusion and what you perceive and what another perceives can both be TRUE at the same time. This is why honest, respectful and willing communication is vital to human connection.
